The Day I Ate Wombatby Mr. David Quirk
Melbourne-based stand-up comedian and performer, David Quirk does a kind of comedy that been described by the The Age as "blunt", "brazen" and "brilliant". For those who like their comedy so dark it’s burnt, Quirk’s material travels between the profane and profound, and delivers an absorbing hour of dry observational comedy, and what one critic described as ‘a chainsaw with cheekbones’, which certainly works best as a metaphor. His comedy is both bright and dark, a bit like squinting into a solar eclipse, you can't help but look. So, on the 11th of February 2011, David De-Butts (as Jessica Mauboy would say) his new show "The Day I Ate Wombat" to audiences at the Fringe in The Garden Of Unearthly Delights, and then brings it home to Melbourne in March. As seen on The Comedy Channel and as heard on Triple J, "The Day I Ate Wombat" is a show about the dreams Quirk's had, the sins he's committed and the stories that haven't happened, but he'll tell anyway. What becomes of a boy who once ate wombat? If you haven't had a chance to catch this underground comic sensation, do, it will become one of the last things that flashes before your eyes when you die.
