SMART CASUAL - THE STORY OF CAPTAIN ENTRÉE
'You won't have to wait long between laughs in this fast-paced adventure.'
* * * * The Advertiser (Feb 2011)
The year is 2011. It is the present. Our heroes Fletcher Jones and Roger David of Smart Casual have just taken a year off comedy. A gap year. The strain of playing to sell-out houses all around the world finally got to them.
What to do with a year off?
1. Be do-gooder suck-ups and volunteer in a third world country (yucky!)
2. Join an old sea captain for an adventure around the world. (That's sounds pretty shweet*)
They picked the second option, and they're back to tell us all about their adventures with The Captain.
Smart Casual is Fletcher Jones (on guitar) and Roger David (on beard), arguably Australia's smartest, most casual musical comedy duo. They won over Adelaide in 2010 with their sell-out show, ‘Same Mother, Different Fathers’, and became Fringe favourites with their radio hit song, ‘The Hawk’.
In 2011, they invite you to join them and Captain Entree for a trip around the world, in his boat ‘Wendy’, as they unveil their new songs: the foreboding ‘Mixing Business with Pleasure’, the love song ‘Kevin Costner’ and a few more sea shanties to help you pass the time hoisting the sail, un-hoisting the sail, and passing time playing Marco Polo.
*Pretty shweet' is our cool new catch phrase. E.g. ‘Hey Chad, I just found a stray twizzler** on the footpath, it was pretty ‘shweet’.
**A twizzler is twenty dollars.***
